Tableau to QuickSight migration

Hi All,

We have a new upcoming project to migrate few Tableau dashboards to QuickSight using AWS Athena as the database but i do not have any prior experience with Athena and QuickSight so i am looking for some guidance/material/resources here from the folks who might have worked on a similar project or have some idea on the migration process.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @arpitarorait3016
depends what “few” means and how complex the dashboards are.
If few = five simple dashboard i would do it manually.

Hi @arpitarorait3016 - Welcome to AWS QuickSight community and thanks for posting the question. Need some more details on the requirement.

  1. When you are referring migrating tableau to quicksight, are you only referring to dashboard migration? What about the data sources? At present what is the data source for tableau? Give some details around the data source and type of data source like oracle, sql server or mysql?
  2. What is the requirement like is it real time reporting or batch oriented ?
  3. What is the volume of data , so approximate data size.
  4. How many dashboards you have and what is the nature of dashboard in terms of complexity like filters, calculated fields etc, give some more details around it.

This will give a foundational requirement which will help you in planning, designing and implementing the solution efficiently.
