Unable to select Highcharts visual during creation of stories and scenarios

Hi community,

I recently started showcasing the Amazon Quick Stories and Scenarios feature to my customer to demonstrate its AI capabilities. Everything is good until when we recently moved our visuals to highcharts and I noticed that Im not able to select the visuals during the Story/Scenario creation. Only the Quick native visuals are available to be selected.

Hope I can get some clarifications here on whether this is normal or I’m doing something wrong.

If the feature is limited today, please advice on the roadmap to include this as we use a lot of highchart visuals.

Thanks!

Regards,

Jerry

Hi @raisinmouse ,

From what I understand, Highcharts is not an AWS product. Highcharts is an independent software library that AWS purchased a license for and integrated it into the Quick Sight Platform. Therefore, because Highcharts is not considered the same as the native Quick Sight visuals as it’s a third-party charting library, that’s why you are unable to do certain actions with them like use them in Story or Scenarios. I would refer to this resource on highcharts (Create custom charts in Amazon QuickSight using the Highcharts visual | AWS Business Intelligence Blog). It gives you a lot of helpful information on it but at the very end of the article it gives a few additional limitations to Highcharts that are important to note.

Moreover, I am not an AWS employee so I cannot speak on any roadmap for Quick. However, I will leave the ‘feature-request’ tag attached to this post to help increase visibility to the Quick team.

Hi @raisinmouse,

Just checking back in since we haven’t heard from you in a bit. I wanted to see if the guidance shared earlier helped resolve your question.

If you still have any additional questions related to your initial post, feel free to share them. Otherwise, any update you’re able to provide within the next 3 business days would be helpful for the community.

Thank you

This probably could be heplful Building a dynamic chart with Custom Highcharts

Hi @raisinmouse,

Since I haven’t received any further updates from you, I’ll treat this inquiry as complete for now. If you have any additional questions, feel free to create a new post in the community and link this discussion for context.

Thank you

Hi @Hrolol ,

Thanks for sharing that resource. The post you attached does seem like a great resource, but I do not think it is relevant to this post. This post is asking about the potential AI capabilities (Stories and Scenarios) with Highcharts while the post you attached seem to only talk about adding how to make the fields in a Highchart dynamic within an analyses. Still useful knowledge when working with Highcharts nonetheless.
