Using a view created in athena as source for dataset

Hi guys. I’m doing my first steps in AWS & Quicksight. I tried several things but still failing. So I hope some experts can help:

My SQL statement (Create view…) in Athena gives a proper result as expected. Using this view as the source for my quwicksught dataset fails: SQL exception…
I tested creating a table instead of a view: Works in Athena and can be used as source for my dataset in Quicksight.

How to make the view work as basis for my dataset in Quicksight?

Thank you very much for any hint!
Regards
Markus

what is failing?

Can you select your view from the athena datasource?

Hi @MWZorro - Can you please give the screenshot as suggested by Max. It will be easy to understand the issue.

Athena supported the view and a details for an use case can be found from the blog -Analyze and visualize nested JSON data with Amazon Athena and Amazon QuickSight | AWS Big Data Blog

Hello @Max @Sanjeeb2022 , Thank you for your reply!
Yes I can select in the dialog you’re showing.
Klicking “EDIT/Preiview date” opens the quicksight screen and I can see the “attributes” lefthandside. In parallel dataset starts loading. After roughly 45 secondes I get a message: “Your database caused a SQL exception…, potentially caused by timeouts, resource restrictions, enexpected DDL-Changes…” (To be honest i do not trust those mentioned potential causes as a identical table performs rightaway.)
Thank you in advance!

Markus
