YTD and last 12 months filter

i am trying to create a calculated field called “Select a Timeframe” to filter my data for YTD and last 12 months. I created the below calculation using my calendar_date field and a latest date parameter. Using the filter, YTD works perfectly, however last 12 months will not display 2025 data. YTD shows January 2025 through March 2025, but last 12 months will only show April 2024 through December 2024. Seems like it is not including YTD data within last 12 months.

You can do the following:

  1. Create another parameter, as a String, and add a default value: For example, timegranularity and default value YTD
  2. Create a calculated field. Example name: Select a Timeframe
ifelse(${timegranularity} = 'YTD',
{month_start_date} >= truncDate('YYYY', ${LatestDate}),
{month_start_date} >= addDateTime(-12, 'MM', ${LatestDate})
)
  1. Add the parameter timegranularity as a control in your dashboard, and add the dropdown values as Last 12 months and YTD.
  2. Filter your visuals to include only Select a Timeframe equals to 1
