Ability to Configure “Start of Week” (Monday–Sunday) at Topic or Account Level in Amazon

We are using Amazon QuickSight (region: us-west-2, Oregon) with datasets sourced from Snowflake.
Our data uses Monday–Sunday as the business week definition (aligned with Snowflake’s DATE_TRUNC('WEEK')),
but QuickSight’s default datetrunc('WK', …) function and Q’s weekly aggregations always assume Sunday–Saturday week boundaries due to the region locale.

This causes a persistent mismatch between our reporting logic in Snowflake and the visualizations or Q interpretations in QuickSight.

Is there currently any way to define the “first day of week” (Monday)
either:

  1. At the Topic level (for QuickSight Q), or

  2. At the Account / Dataset level, overriding the region default (Sunday)?

This might be one of those “of course I’ve looked at this” responses, but just in case.

Have you tried setting it at the Analysis level?

Some reasonable explanations here:

I’m not sure if it would solve the underlying calculations issues or not, it may just be a visual control.

Thanks for responding!

Actually, I do not need that for the analysis level. I want to change that for the Topic/Account level.

Ah, I see. I’m not aware of a way to do that, hopefully others have some experience though!

Consider using customer instruction on the topic. Define that that the 1st business week is 1st to Saturday. Add that additional weeks are Sunday to Saturday. Add that the last week of the month is the Sunday to the end the last week of the month.

Hi @Eldad_Levi,

Following up here as it’s been awhile since last communication took place on this thread; did you have any additional questions regarding your initial post?

If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.

Thank you
