All conversations and pinned chats lost after desktop app update (v0.572 → v0.647)

Hi team,

After updating Amazon Quick Desktop from v0.572.0 (stable channel) to v0.647.0 (internal channel), all my previous conversations and pinned chats have disappeared. I did not delete any chats — they were there before the update and gone after.

What happened:

  • The update switched my app from the “stable” channel to the “internal” channel

  • This appears to have created a new profile, causing the session database to reinitialize

  • Logs confirm: [SessionDB] Migrating schema from 1.3 to 1.4 followed by a fresh schema initialization on 2026-05-25

  • Previous conversations are likely still on disk under the old profile directory but are inaccessible from the current install

  • Crash reports (ConnectionResetError) from May 20-21 preceded the update

Environment:

  • OS: Windows 11 (10.0.26200)

  • Previous version: 0.572.0 (stable channel)

  • Current version: 0.647.0 (internal channel)

  • Architecture: AMD64

Expected behavior: Conversations and pins should be preserved across updates.

Request: How can I recover my previous conversations/session data? Is there a way to access the old profile directory or migrate data from the previous channel?

Thanks, Shivani

Hi @gshivni and welcome to the Quick Community!

I’m sorry to hear that you experienced that. Since all you did was update your application, this does not sound like the intended behavior. While I cannot access your individual account and account information, there is nothing that I can personally do to see about recovering your previous conversations. I would suggest creating a support ticket and the support team will be able to further investigate into the cause of this. Please refer to this resource on how to create a support ticket (Case management - AWS Support).
