Bug on date filter (end date 1 day beyond)

Hello folks!
I have a question about the date filters. I work for a client in finance, and use quicksight on a daily basis to report on transactions made by the clients.
I have a set up a date filter on the dashboard, where I have to select the beginning date and end date. The way this filter worked, until yesterday, was that I had to always filter one day beyond what I wanted to see (so if I wanted to get the data until yesterday, the end date on the filter should be set to today).

This never made any sense to me, but I just chalked it up to a quicksight bug, explained it as such to my stakeholders, and moved on.

What changed is that today I noticed that this bug was corrected, that is to say, I can selected the real end date now. Do you know if that has been corrected then?

Thanks in advance for you insights on this matter!

Hi @onelag,

In the past, did you have this option checked off in your filter option:

Additionally, were there any updates made to the scheduled refresh time? Maybe your data refresh is just available earlier which is now allowing you to capture the proper date as marked?

Thanks, this was probably the reason. But why does this option even exist? It does not make any sense at all. Imagine I want the data from the first seven days of October. To get it I need to filter from the first day until the 8th (when this checkbox is not marked).

How does that make any sense?

Hi @onelag,

I agree that it doesn’t seem to make much sense, maybe it’s for someone who is using Direct Query and may want want to recognize today’s data until the day has finalized, but still doesn’t make a ton of sense as you can just set to ‘yesterday’.
