Hi Team,
Currently, when we click on “Add Calculated Field,” the dialog box for the calculated field takes up the entire screen, making it difficult to navigate back to other sections of the analysis without saving or closing it.
Challenges:
When encountering an error in a calculation, there’s no way to go back to the analysis to check the status of the calculation and identify what needs to be fixed. If you close the dialog, there’s no autosave option, which means the calculation can be completely lost.
Instead, if the dialog box for adding calculated fields were to float like a text box, similar to other visual types, it would provide default size options and make it more convenient to use.
This way, we could keep the calculation dialog box in place while still being able to view the analysis screen. This would allow for ongoing additions to the calculated field, giving us the flexibility to add and update calculations without losing context.
Having a floating dialog box for calculated fields would enable us to position it anywhere on the screen, enhancing the overall user experience.
This is an important feature please look into this.
Picture -1 : The dialog box for the calculated field is taking entire screen.
Picture -2 : The dialog box for the Text Box is floating, allowing us to resize it.
Picture -3 : If you look at the Tableau Calculated Field dialog box, you’ll see that it is also a floating window that can be resized based on your requirements. Please have a look
Tagging all of you for your suggestions on this
