I have 2 datasets (A&B) and want to join them together to get a combined one.
A is from Redshift with custom SQL. B is joined data from multiple data source. When I try to join them together on the page of editing dataset A by adding data, it shows error. Is it not feasible to join them?
Hello,
Are there any specific errors in the screen when you hover over the red exclamation marks?
Hi, no, there’s no error message shown.
I tried to show table preview for the right table, it shows no access. Is it the root cause that I don’t have the required permission?
It looks plaussible, can you try to create an analysis with the dataset you dont have access to and see if you get a similar error so we can discard an issue with the joins?
Yes I can create an analysis successfully.
Ok, so it does not look like it is related to having access to the data. Are you an admin? Are you able to create other datasets that do not involve these 2 tables, maybe one with 2 simple tables without nested joins?
I’m an author not admin. I can create a dataset with 2 simple tables joined.
OK, so it seems related to the datasets you are trying to join, but since we do not have any errors to look at it is difficult to continue the troubleshooting, I would recommend filing a case with AWS Support where we can dive into the details so that we can help you further. Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf. Hope this helps!

Hi @shijingh - Welcome to AWS Quick Sight community and thanks for posting the question. Couple of questions.
- Are you able to see the data for both data sets separately.
- If yes, you should able to join the data set, please set a key and try to save it. If it is throwing error, give the error details.
I agree with @andres007 , since the details are not so clear, better to raise a ticket to AWS Customer support team.
