Cant Remove Join after Dataset Deletion

I deleted an old dataset that was part of a join with another dataset. Now the non-deleted dataset wont let me delete the join that includes the old dataset (that was deleted). Hopefully that wasn’t confusing, adding pictures to help explain. When I try to delete it it’ll say “can’t perform this action, an unknown error has occured”. Any help would be greated appreciated!

here’s a picture of the error.

Hi @bdefranc

Welcome to QuickSight Community .

Unfortunately this appears to be system issue , am able to recreate the same issue as well. Thanks for raising it up in community .

Please create a support ticket for dev team to dig deeper into this and mention the severity as well if its having wider impact to users & developers .

Here are the steps for opening a support ticket - Creating support cases and case management - AWS Support . If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf

Thanks

Thanks Vlnod, unfortunately I dont have access to create a case so I asked my BI team to do it. Any work arounds in the meantime? We use this datafile for our weekly metrics.

I have also created internal support ticket on the same , since we cannot duplicate or reference this dataset to another dataset . Quick workaround is to create a new dataset pointing to datafile in S3 bucket . Once new dataset is created you update the existsing analysis to use the new dataset.

  1. Create new dataset using S3 datasource
  2. Open the existing dataset and find the analysis where its used . Under usage tab
  3. Open the analysis and click on manage datasets option
  4. We can see the dataset used in the analysis and click on the three dots to get the replace option .
  5. Select the newly created dataset and replace it.
  6. Ensure all the fields in the old dataset are available in the new dataset and complete the dataset replace step.

Thanks
