Hello @Imaniul52 , welcome to the QuickSight community!

I know that you deleted the dataset, but have you removed it from your join in QuickSight and then tried to save?

If that doesn’t work you may need to recreate the dataset without the join and then swap it with the old version in your analyses.

Thanks for reaching out,
it doesnt allow me to save after removing the join,
I do have some follow up questions regarding the solution you suggested. Will really appreciate if you can help answer these.

when recreating the dataset without the join will i lose the calculated fields i have created as well as visuals that were already made?

will the fields have to match the exact data types and names as the previous dataset?

finally in my dataset i have two joins, one of them i am trying to remove and the other one i want to keep should i include this in the recreated dataset?

Hey @Imaniul52 ,

If the calculated fields you created are on the dataset layer you will need to recreate them. If they are on the analysis layer then you shouldn’t have to recreate anything. When you recreate the dataset, do not include the join with the dataset you deleted.

As far as data types and names matching, I recommend making sure that all data types and names are the same to avoid problems. When it comes to swapping data sets on analyses, a key best practice I recommend is creating a copy of one target analysis, recreating the dataset without deleting the current version, and then completing a test swap on the analysis copy. This way if anything breaks you are troubleshooting in an isolated dev environment rather than on anything that could affect a production dashboard.

Is there a resolution for this issue without having to create the dataset again ? I do not have any analysis that I need recover from it. I just need to publish the dataset and add it to different analysis. However, I am unable to publish the dataset due to this issue.
