I am trying to create a filled map that has less granularity than countries but more than postal codes in europe, is there a way to access the repartition and names of city or county or state accross europe because every country has it’s own geographical repartition and naming?
Hi @alkhamed
Filled maps support geospatial fields such as country, state or region, county or district, or ZIP code or postal code.
What is geographical repartition and naming ? Do you see any of the geospatial points in Europe is not working QuickSight maps ?
can you please share some examples.
Hi @Ashok,
Thank you for your response. To create a filled map, it seems I need to specify a geographic division such as a county, a state, or a postal code as the location (city can’t be used in filled map apparently). Since I’m looking for a level of granularity finer than postal codes, my choices narrow down to counties or states. However, European countries don’t always have these clear-cut geographical divisions. Therefore, I’m inquiring if there’s an accessible list of the names counties or states recognized by the Quicksight system in Europe. This would serve as a reference for what to include in my input data. For instance, Paris is categorized as a county rather than a state, while Metz was not identified as either.
Hi @Ashok,
I noticed that you use the HERE geocoding and search API so I tried using that to identify the name of counties for each country, but even though I now normally have the right names for the counties there are some of them that are not identified by quicksight, for exp ‘Vizcaya’ in Spain, I verified from the HERE API that it’s a county but it’s not recognized by quicksight as a county?
@alkhamed Thank you for letting us know. I would recommend filing a case with AWS Support where we can dive into the details so that we can help you further. Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf. Hope this helps!
