Connecting Quick to data central

I want to get details of a live sql query data from data central to quick suite for viz similar to Tableau. I wanted to know how to do that, if that is not possible let me know how I should do that moving forward. thank you!

Hi @Lakshmi_Gayathri_Rag

Welcome to the Quick community!

Quick’s Direct Query mode executes live queries against databases on each dashboard interaction, similar to Tableau’s live connection behavior.

The cited AWS blog is authoritative and details best practices for both SPICE and Direct Query.

Thank you for the reply! but all I see in my UI is this. Where can i find query editor?

Hi @Lakshmi_Gayathri_Rag

First, you need to create a data source and then create dataset from data source. Navigate to Datasets → New dataset, choose a SQL data source (e.g., Athena, RDS), and select Use custom SQL on the next screen. This opens the Enter custom SQL query editor where you paste/edit SQL.

Note: Custom SQL only appears for SQL databases, not file uploads

Please refer to the following documentation and learning videos this might be helpful for you.

Yeah connecting to the data source is the problem. This is my data source/database Midway Authentication Portal

I don’t think it is allowing me to share but it is called data central and there is no option for that in quick suite

Hi @Lakshmi_Gayathri_Rag

Could you please explain the issue in detail?

To create a datasource, first you need access to the SQL databases (e.g., Athena, RDS, Redshift) to establish connection in Quick and then only you’ll be able to create dataset with custom SQL.
