Dashboard Date Control showing incorrect value

Hi,

I have a dashboard which has a date control pinned to the top. When the control section is not expanded it states ‘Case Created Date’:‘This Month’. Although when it is expanded it shows ‘Case Created Date’:‘All’. ‘This Month’ seems to be the default option for my control but it is not actually selected or being applied as a filter.

This is creating confusion for users who believe at first sight there is a filter selected when there isn’t.

I believe I have replicated it in Arena: Date Control Value Test

Any help would be grateful.

Many thanks.

Hello @riley.anderson, that is rather confusing. I looked at the analysis in Arena and it seems like everything is working fine. Something you can try though as an alternative would be to create a parameter with a default value and use that to determine the default state instead. This is how I set up the parameter:

Hello @riley.anderson, did my above response help guide you to your expected output? If so, please mark it as a solution. Otherwise, can you provide some more detail about the issue you are experiencing and I can help guide you further. If we do not hear back from you in 3 days, I will archive this topic. Thank you!

Hi @DylanM,

Thank you for your response and suggestion. Unfortunately, I don’t want to have a specific date, I want it to be all dates and then the end users are able to select the date range they wish.

Are you saying you can’t see my issue through the Arena link?

Many thanks,
Riley

Hello @riley.anderson, yeah when I looked at the Arena view, it seemed like the date filtering was working as expected. I see what the issue is now though, you don’t want it to be filtered by default, you want all dates to be selected. Would you be able to set the default date statically? If you have data going back to January 1, 2022, you could make that the default then so it would show all available data before filtering.

Hi @DylanM,

Thank you for your reply. Correct, I want it to be all dates with the ability for the end user to select a date range if required. I do have a start point but I think I have found a way for it display all.

I’m not sure if the way I have done it previously either with clicking apply before adding it to the top of the sheet, or applying it and then changed the filter type caused this.
If I add a new filter, change the filter type to Relative Dates and then just add it to the top of my sheet without clicking apply on the filter then it displays all in the control.

Thank you for your help. I will consider using from a static date in the future if I ever comes across something similar.

Many thanks.

Riley
