Dashboard Executive Summaries Not working from tempaltes

Hi,
We would like to embed dashboards with executive summaries. I noticed the recently launch of these features back in April 2025. However, whenever I generate my dashboard from a template executive summaries are not an option.
Here is my workflow

  1. In UI, create a dashboard from
    analysis with Q and other options enabled. When I view this published dashboard, The executive summary is there and available… ok no problem Failure happens here
  2. I take that same analysis, convert it to a template, then publish a dashboard from that template, with the following dashboard publish option
    dashboard_publish_options = {
    ‘DataQAEnabledOption’: {
    ‘AvailabilityStatus’: ‘ENABLED’
    }
    }
    This published dashboard does NOT have executive summary options, whether in console or embedding.

Is executive summary available for dashboards created from templates? Or is this only available from UI publishing… if this can’t be done from a template, this is an issue for us.

Here is some documentation regarding the enablement of executive summaries on embedded dashboards.

If still encountering issues after this, I would suggest your best option would be to create a support ticket so that you can get more direct assistance from the support team.

Hi Brett, thank you for this, at this point the issue is not embedding, rather any dashboard I create from a template will not show executive summaries. This is a dashboard published from a template will not have executive summaries, whether viewing directly in console or embedding. Where I expect the console to be the source of truth, the console dashboard does not have executive summaries.

Thanks for the further clarification; As I can’t seem to find any documentation around executive summary options when generating from a template. I will mark this as a feature request to promote visibility to the AWS support team.

Hi Brett, no additional information necessary. My comment is how frustrating this is that there is no clear documentation on functionality differences between api capability and console functions. This feature is entirely useless to us unless it can be orchestrated via templates. Our entire dashboard delivery mechanism is done via templates.
