When i try to connect MY sql query to dashboard to run, it is saying i need an IAM credential. However, when i run the query on Hubble/redshift - it runs fine and i have access to all the tables. I want to make this into a dashboard.
Hi @shivgos
Welcome to the Quick Suite community!
Quick Suite requires specific IAM configuration to connect to Redshift for datasets and dashboards, even if you can query directly via the console or Query Editor. This ensures secure, role-based access for direct query or SPICE modes. Your table access works there because console queries use your personal IAM permissions, but needs explicit data source setup.
Please refer to the following Quick Suite documentation and community post this might be helpful for you.
Hi @shivgos ,
Following up here as it has been a while since the last communication on this thread, was the solution provided above sufficient for your situation or did you have any further questions?
If we do not hear back from you in the next 3 business days, I’ll go ahead and mark this as a solution.
Thank you.
My IAM is on my personal account. I created one with my work email. However I still do not know how to apply it to the Quicksight AB account that we all have access to. I also dont have access to the redshift tables im using in my sql queries through Quicksight. Most do not show up as options.
Hi @shivgos
Make sure you have access to all necessary Redshift tables. Quick Suite IAM authentication for Redshift requires the IAM role to be created in the same AWS account as Quick Suite (the AB account), with service assuming it via trust policy.
Please follow the below steps for connecting Redshift from Quick Sight using IAM authentication.
