Date Range Controls not Applying to Whole Sheet

We have a dashboard with about half a dozen data points in it. The date range control at the top of the sheet, correctly applies to most of the visuals. There are 3 in particular that do not seem to respond to date range changes.

We have tried adding a filter specifically to those visuals, but once that is done, it ONLY shows the specified date range, and still does not change when the controls at the top specify new date ranges.

We have ensured that the filter “applies to all visuals” and yet these 3 still do not respond to the date changes. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @AreTea, I have not experienced this issue. In case you need further assistance with your issue, please create a sample dashboard with sample dataset showing your problem state using Arena and post it here. (Details on using Arena can be found here - QuickSight Arena

@Xclipse We determined part of the issue, but have since run into a different problem. The issue here was the dashboard using multiple datasets, so we needed to apply the date range across all datasets. Now all visuals are responding to the date range control.

However, the new “issue” is we would like to have one visual in the dashboard abide by its own filter. Since we’ve now used the date range across all visuals, and applying across datasets, the one visual that should be listening to its own filter, is no longer.

Hi @AreTea,

When you apply your filter to the sheet, you can select the option to apply it to select visuals. Enable the option and unselect the visual that you don’t want it to apply to.

@David_Wong This looks like exactly what we need, thanks! I will try this today and report back if/when this is solved.

Edit: SOLVED! For anyone who comes across this issue, it is a two parter:

Part 1 - Ensure you have “Apply cross-datasets” checked (matters if your visuals use more than one dataset)

Part 2 - Customize which visuals will use the date range/filter
