1- If a QA wants to test around the analysis in the Quicksight, want to be able to play around filters, and be able to access the datasets created , but not delete them, what role should be given to her ?
What is the recommended role for a tester to test the dashboards ana analysis in Quicksight?
2- If the end users want to work on the drop down filters and play around the dashboard, is the viewer /reader role sufficient?
Hello @dsahu, in order for a user to be able to view the analysis version and linked datasets, they will need to have the author role. The reader role will only give users access to the dashboard tab of the QuickSight environment.
Then you can share datasets and analyses with the authors on your account. If you share a dataset and give viewer permissions, they can create an analysis off the dataset and manipulate the data there, or create another dataset from it. This will not allow them to delete the dataset:
As for the analysis, it is a bit different. If you are worried about a user deleting an analysis, and they do not need to be able to directly update the dashboard, you could create a copy of the analysis and share that with the user. They can play around with the filtering and have 0 impact on the published dashboard. I hope this helps!
