Filter values only update when control panel is minimised and opened again

Hi

We are running into an issue where the values in a filter drop down on one of our dashboards are only updating when the control panel is minimised and opened again.

Screenshot 1: Initial dashboard load. No data returned as expected as there is no data for this week. No values returned in “Extras” filter as expected

Screenshot 2: Start date is changed, and data is returned. Opening the “Extras” filter should return values, but they do not.

Screenshot 3: After minimising the control panel, opening it again and looking at the “Extras” filter, the filter now returns the expected values

The “Start date” and “End date” filters are parameters linked to parameters in the dataset that cut the data returned down. The “Extras” filter has relevant values set to the “Search filter”.

We have another dashboard with a similar setup (same dataset parameters, but more filters) and the values for that dashboards filters update without having to minimise the control panel and open it again, causing an inconsistent user experience. Is there any reason a filter would update differently from one dashboard to another?

Thanks

Hi @Liam,
This is really interesting behavior; especially since after re-expanding the control panel, the values start populating again. My initial thought would be that based on your start date, there are too many value options in ‘Extra’ to show in a dropdown (limit for a dropdown is 1,000, if there are more values than that, you’ll just receive a text box). But since it’s populating eventually, that must not be the case.

This seems more like a bug to me than standard functionality so I would suggest creating a support ticket:

Hi @Liam,

Just checking back in since we haven’t heard from you in a bit. Were you able to see Brett’s reply? If you still have any additional questions related to your initial post, please feel free to share them. Otherwise, any update you’re able to provide within the next 3 business days would be helpful for the community.
