Hide a Column in a Pivot Table but Include Its Values in Totals

Hi! I would like to create a table in Quicksight that shows sales for the top 5 categories but keep all categories in the sales total.

Is there a way using either a table or pivot table visuals to remove columns but keep their values in the total column?

Hello @ryannschuessler, I tested out a few options locally, but there does not seem to be a good way to resolve this in QuickSight directly. My first thought to implement a work-around solution would be to include another category field in the dataset directly for total and include the total values. That would be the best way to be able to filter for the top 5 categories, but then show the total value for all categories.

Then, you could add some conditional formatting logic on the table to show the total column with a light grey background to make it look similar to the default functionality within the pivot table visual. Would it be possible to make this update in the dataset rather than in the analysis?

Hello @ryannschuessler, since we have not heard back from you with any remaining questions, I will mark my previous response as the solution. If you still need assistance with this issue, please provide more information about the requirements and any questions about the implementation of the work-around solution, and I can guide you further. Thank you!
