Is aws data export to quicksight intentianlly made to be useless?

Hello All,

I have multiple use cases I want to perform using quicksight. lets take the simplest one. I have around 10 s3 buckets which I want to monitor daily/monthly cost. For this, I exported the AWS Cost and Usage report ( Cost and usage Dashboard) to Quicksight. Here, I can only see cost of total S3. No bucket nor tag level granularity.

As a second option, I exported CUR 2.0 which will have tag level information based on the documentation. however, it gives billing information starting from current month. No record of past months/years !

All these features can be done by Cost explorer though it lacks some features Quicksight has.

It looks like the new features are lagging behind the older services

Thanks,
J.

Hi @johnaws - Thanks for your question. The CUR 2.0 option is good and with tag and automation you can start collecting the details and cost. Yes you are correct, it contains the info from the point when you are set up the export and with time you can start collecting the details and present in QS dashboard.

I have not explored the first option, but we implemented the second one and start collecting the cost and present it.
