Language settings in Quicksight

I need to design report in Japanese language , if i design report in english and just change the settings mentioned in below documentation to japanese then will it automatically change all my report and chart titles in japanese?

example if chart title is “Sales by month” then will it automatically convert to japanese - 月別売上高 or this setting is only applicable for menu options available in Quicksight and not report or chart titles?

what are the limitations of below option? ( means for which Quicksight components it is not applicable or cannot change language)?

HEllo Vibhu,

As far as I know, Changing the language settings in QuickSight will NOT automatically translate your custom report and chart titles from English to Japanese or any other language.

What Language Settings Actually Change

The language setting in QuickSight only affects user interface elements and system-generated content, including:

  • Navigation buttons and menu options

  • System-generated text like “Submit” buttons, “Correct”/“Incorrect” labels

  • Date and number formatting according to regional preferences

  • Assessment text and proficiency charts in the interface

  • Auto-generated titles that QuickSight creates

What Does NOT Get Translated

The language settings do not translate:

  • Custom chart titles (like your “Sales by month” example)

  • Custom field names and labels that you’ve created

  • User-entered content in analyses and dashboards

  • Data values themselves

Possible Approach :

1/ Manual Translation Required

For your specific example, if you have a chart titled “Sales by month,” it will remain “Sales by month” even after changing the language setting to Japanese. To display it as “月別売上高,” you would need to:

Manually rename each field and chart title - QuickSight allows you to rename fields and visual titles individually

2/ Alternative Approaches you could:

Use parameters to create dynamic titles that can be changed based on language selection.

Hope this helps.
