The new QuickSight interface — which I understand has been out for about four months — feels much less user-friendly than the previous version. There are now many prompts that interrupt workflow, and some tasks that used to be simple have become difficult to locate.
The most challenging area is the Dataset editing section. Previously, changing data types was straightforward, and creating hierarchical groupings (for example, country → district for map visualizations) was easy to configure. I’ve not been able to find an equivalent workflow in the new interface.
Overall, the update feels over-engineered and has made common data-preparation tasks more complex than necessary.
Hi @Bramuel_Aswani and welcome to the Quick Community!
Would you be able to provide some examples by what you mean when you mention that it now has ‘many prompts’ or the tasks that have become more difficult?
In regards to the new data prep experience; this feature incorporated new capabilities that were not possible in the original or old version. However this was rolled out with the understanding that certain features (including ones that had previously been available) were not incorporated yet.
Because of this, they left the legacy data prep experience still available for users to switch back in case they needed those unavailable features.
To my understanding, they are still working on incorporating these features into the new experience prior to shutting off the old version.
Take a look at the attached documentation below as this provides clarity on what features are not yet available, GeoSpatial fields being one of those items.
So if you encounter one of those scenarios, I would suggest switching back to the legacy version so that you are not hindered.
@Bramuel_Aswani Did this solution work for you? I am marking this reply as, “Solution,” but let us know if this is not resolved. Thanks for posting your questions on the Quick Suite Community Q&A Forum!
