QuickSight New Experience: Dataset Limitations & Data Type Issues

Hi Everyone,

While working with Amazon QuickSight’s new authoring experience, I have noticed a few limitations compared to the legacy UI:

• Dataset parameters are not available

• Incremental refresh is missing

• Column hierarchies cannot be created

• Data type conversion from string to date does not work as expected

  • Data type Conversion is possible only via calculated fields, which is a limitation

All of these features continue to work in the legacy experience, but are absent or limited in the new UI.

Looking for advice from the community:

• Are these known gaps or planned for future releases?

• Are there recommended workarounds or best practices in the new experience ?

• For production dashboards, is it better to continue using the legacy experience until feature parity is achieved?

Incremental refresh not available with "new experience"

The option to have incremental refresh is not available for datasets that are created with the “new experience”. Does anyone know if it will every be made available or is this feature that will stay active only for old datasets?
