Missing "Shared folders" option under "Add to folder" after recent UI update?

Hi,

I am having trouble moving assets (dashboards/analyses/datasets/data sources) to a shared folder. When I click on Add to folder, the only option available to select is My folders. The option for Shared folders is missing entirely.

This is being observed after the recent UI changes. Did I miss anything or is it known issue ?

Any guidance or workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi @praveen.gp ,

From what I understand, the “Add to folder” picker only shows shared folders where you have Owner or Contributor access. If you’re a Viewer on those folders, they won’t appear as options. This is documented in the folder permissions matrix. For restricted shared folders, even contributors can’t add existing assets; only newly created ones are allowed.

Check with your QuickSight admin to confirm your role on the target folders. If your permissions are correct and the issue persists, I’d file an AWS Support case.

Hi @JacobR

Thanks for reply. Yes, I do have admin permissions.

I have noticed that, I can able to add them to shared folder from the all assets location but not individually after opening it.

Please see the below screenshots.

Ex: The same ‘People Overview’ datasets can be added to ‘Shared folder’ from the Screenshot-1 but can’t able to add from the Screenshot-2.

Hi @praveen.gp

You are right. I see the same issue on my end. Never noticed it.

I think this is a bug that needs to be fixed.

Sounds good. I am also happy to be part of UAT for QuickSight!

Also a request. It should be great, If you provide an option to move multiple assets at once to a shared folder.

Hi @praveen.gp

I agree with you on the request related to having ability to select multiple items at once to add to shared folders. Infact, we should also have a “Move” option. Sometimes I have found myself needs to change the folder of the assets and I have to share to a new folder and remove from the old folder.

@JacobR Can you please help mark these as feature requests?

Hi @praveen.gp,

Since this has already been tagged as a ‘feature-request,’ I’ll go ahead and archive this post as well to promote visibility.
