Paginated Reports for SME's

Hi team,

I have a couple of questions around Paginated Reports for QuickSight.

Context - I work for a small company using AWS in our stack. We would like to trial using paginated reports before committing to pay for the monthly subscription

  • Is there any level of usage we would leverage to build POC reports?

Cost

  • I notice the cost if $500pm for 500 reports.
  • Due to the nature of our business, we would not produce anywhere near this - is there a smaller tier (say, under 200 reports) which SME’s can leverage?

More detailed information

  • In lieu of having some sort of trial to see if we want to use PRs, is there anywhere where can I find more detailed information about the functionality available to me in PRs? I can’t seem to find anything detialed in AWS documentation.

Thanks,
Q

Hello QSCommUser,

Unfortunately, Pixel Perfect paginated reporting does not come under free trial.

The cost of enabling Pixel perfect paginated reporting in QuickSight is $500 / month which includes 500 reports as well.

Since your company is leveraging AWS stack. I would like to recommend to reach out to your AWS account team. Hopefully they can provide some mechanism such has credits for the POC.

This way you should be able to test and verify it.

Hope this gives some idea.

Thank you.

Hi Deep,

Thanks for the feedback - I will look to see if there is something that our account team can do.

In the interim, can you advise if the below workflow is possible:

  • Multi-page Paginated report creation – manual
    • Created with filters, which display data
    • If this possible or should I be using parameters instead?
  • API based generation / download of the report via AWS SDK or other..
    • Passing values for the filter / parameter from point 1 above
  • Transferal of file to s3
  • Distribution of report via email (through a lambda function leveraging SES)

Presumably this is the normal workflow for distribution of the reports, outside of user logging into QuickSight and manually downloading themselves.

Any help / advise here is appreciated.

Thanks,
