Parameters used in Titles on 2 sheets but both titles show values from first sheet

I have some parameters that I use on two sheets and they work fine except in the titles. The titles on the second sheet take on the parameter values from the first sheet. The parameters are used in filters and "Only this sheet 'is selected on both sheets. How can I fix this?

hi @nw2this

is the filter linked the parameter configured in sheet 1 only? “Only this sheet” setting is for filter on both sheets?

kind regards,
Wakana

I don’t think so, because the visual itself changes when I make selections using the parameter filter control but the title doesn’t. Both sheets have controls using the same filter parameter, both visuals change as expected. The titles on the first page change as expected. The titles on the second page reflect the control selections on the first page.

Hi @nw2this,
I would recommend to double check that the control, which you have created on the sheet in which the title doesn’t update, is linked to the parameter. You can do so by going to the Parameters-section in your analysis and then clicking on the three dots next to the parameter name. If the menu shows the option “Add control”, the parameter has not yet been added to a control on that specific sheet of the analysis.

In the following example, param1 has not yet been added as a control to the sheet (still showing the “Add control” option):

param2 on the other hand has already been added (not showing the “Add control” option):

hi @nw2this

We have not heard back from you. did @Thomas’s recommendation help to resolve your issue?

I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. As of now, I took the controls off the second sheet. The second sheet obeys the controls on the first sheet even though I have ‘Only this sheet’ selected. I direct my readers to use the controls on the first sheet for the second sheet until I get a chance to play around with it again.

Hello @nw2this, is this something you are still hoping to resolve in QuickSight? One thing that may be helpful that I do is when I create a sheet that has controls attached to parameters that I know I will use on other sheets, I duplicate it. This way I have already tested that the functionality is working appropriately and that it will match exactly in other sheets.

If you had the filtered value that is linked to the control set to all applicable visuals, any new visuals you create will contain the filter as well. Otherwise, you will need to make sure you are including the filter on the specific visuals that you want it to manipulate. This should ensure your parameter value is updating as expected on both sheets. I’ll mark this as a solution for now, but if you have any other related questions to solve this issue, please let me know!
