Continuing the discussion from QuickSight Pivot table sort doesn't work on all columns:
This doesn’t look resolved to me. I am also having a problem sorting a pivot table by a particular column.
Hi @marie,
Could you please share a screenshot of your table so that we can better understand the issue you are running into?
Hi @marie,
Thanks for sharing! If I understand correctly by looking at your tables, you’d like to sort by the overall supplier/facility groups, not the rows within each supplier/facility, correct?
I’ve recreated this scenario below so the populated information will be different but should work similarly for you:
Here’s the starting table. I selected the top left cell, for me labeled ‘Rows’, for you it would be the ‘Supplier/Facility’.
When the options open, go to the option just below the break line to expand. Change the sort by option by the column you’d like to sort.
The outcome should reflect on your table to sort them by your new selected column.
Let me know if this solution works for your case or if you have any additional questions!
Thank you. I want to sort, in descending order by the “Total Exception Spend”. This column is a work around (since totaling across the dashboard didn’t work, I created a calculated field). I want the highest dollar amounts first. I will try what you suggested and let you know.
Sorry, posted too soon, it did work. It is not intuitive since there is a sort button at the top of the column, but this did it. thanks
Agreed, it is a bit odd how unclear it is with there being a normal sort option in the corner. Glad that it worked for your case though!
