I seem to be running into a bug of some sort - whenever I try to have a row or column Total displaying on a Pivot Table with a repeating section, the visual runs into a Visual Error.
When I have the Pivot Table visual without any repeating section dimension, it loads perfectly fine and shows data as expected:
However, when I add a dimension to the repeating section, the visual is constantly trying to load and a yellow icon appears in the bottom left with a vague “Visual Error” that doesn’t show any helpful information on the error. Here’s what happens:
(I had a filter in the first screenshot which would be different from the first value of the repeating section dimension, hence the slightly different data in the 2 screenshots)
I get the error regardless of whichever field I add to the repeating section dimension. I’ve tried starting a new sheet from scratch but still get this issue. Any help to fix this would be appreciated
That is definitely some interesting behavior that you are encountering. I would definitely recommend creating a support ticket with AWS Support, as they may be able to guide you further as to why this could be occurring.
In the meantime, I will make sure to leave this post marked as an Error to promote further awareness to the AWS Team!
Yeah this is 100% reproduceable for different dashboards and datasets. I created an AWS ticket/case but it would be nice if they could respond faster. I’m surprised nobody else has come across this issue.
That is totally understandable. Just wanted to check back in to see if you have received a response from AWS Support since your last message. If so, please feel free to share in this thread in case other people are running into similar behavior. Any update you’re able to provide within the next 3 business days would definitely be helpful for the community.
Since we haven’t received any further updates from you, I’ll treat this inquiry as complete for now. If you have any additional questions, feel free to create a new post in the community and link this discussion for context.
