Prevent signing up for Pixel Perfect when create a Quicksight subscription

Hello,

When signing up for a QuickSight using the console, the AWS console auto-checks the box that opts the user into the Pixel-perfect paginated reports feature. Once subscribed, the user commits to being billed for the full month’s worth of cost for the feature, even if the subscription is deleted shortly afterwards. Is there a way to programmatically block this feature from accidental opting in?

Hi @hong_p - Welcome to the Community. I checked with the PM who oversees this area.

Here is what was shared: There is currently no mechanism to block the ability for someone to opt in to the subscription. The action is only possible by someone who has Admin access to the account.

Hello,

The default should be unchecked, it’s $500/month.

I am worried that I accidentally signed up for it. I have been looking around the documentation and the internet for ways to verify, and I ended up on this post. I still can’t find how to check.

Can this be raise to AWS to change the default.

Hi @misbahxa,

I can suggest two ways to check if you have a plan for Pixel-Perfect Reports.

  1. If you are a QuickSight admin, go to the “Manage QuickSight” option via the “person” symbol in the top right corner of the QuickSight Console and look under the “Manage pricing”->“Pixel-Perfect Reports” option, e.g.
  2. Or, if you create a new analysis, check whether you can create a new sheet using Pixel-perfect reporting, e.g.

This option won’t be available if the Pixel-Perfect reporting plan isn’t enabled.

Many Thanks,
Andrew
