Provide permissions to Q topics in bulk

I’ve built a Quick Sight topic on top of a dataset and enabled it for a dashboard. From what I understand, users need Pro-level access (Admin Pro, Author Pro, or Reader Pro) in order to use the Q&A panel.

Is there a way to grant bulk access so multiple users can leverage Q&A and its GenAI capabilities, instead of configuring Pro access for each user individually? Right now, I’m assigning Pro-level access one by one whenever someone wants to use the Quick Sight Q built on topics.

There are a few alternate routes you could try out:

  • Create a group with pro-level access to entire group; when a new user needs to be upgraded, you can add them to the group.

  • Or you can dive deeper into the API’s, consider the ‘update user’ or if new, the ‘register user’ option:

If users just need to ask questions in the Q&A panel, they don’t need Pro license. A Reader can ask Q&A.

Pro users can have more features such as create and configure the Topic
