Reader inactive for a while, and come back and click different sheet, but it loads forever

We’re embedding a dashboard with multiple sheets.

But, noticed that a sheet loads forever when the user clicks it after idling for a while.

The only thing that worked as workaround is to refresh the page.

Is this due to the reader session time out? We’re using Cognito and its time out is 1 hour.

Found this from FAQ. What happens after 30min?
Will a Reader be logged out after a 30-minute session?
No, Reader sessions are transparent to the QuickSight Reader. Reader sessions will be automatically renewed in 30-minute intervals, and time out 30 minutes after start upon inactivity. Readers will only be logged out of QuickSight when their authentication expires, which is dependent on the authentication scheme in place (can be one of QuickSight-only users, SAML/Open ID Connect or Active Directory).

This might be caused because of a SPICE refresh.

Where the data they were looking at before is now changed.

Hi @tbdori - You mentioned the issue resolved when the user refresh the page? Is that true? In that case, it may not be an SPICE issue as if SPICE is taking time to refresh, then user should not see the data? Can you also check the behavior with incognito mode?

Hi @Max - are you saying SPICE is taking time to refresh the data set and user has to wait for that time?

@Max

definitely not SPICE refresh issue as I only refresh the SPICE for this at night. once a day.

I’m saying if you have a session open with old data that might cause issues.

I tested it in incognito-mode and I see the same issue.
After 1 hour, I tried to change control and see the forever loading icon.

This time, I got more screenshots.
I see 401 error on network of the inspector.

Is this because embed-url gets expired after an hour?
Is there a way to refresh embed-url without refreshing the entire page?
