Restrict Access to a Specific Sheet Within the Same Dashboard

Hi everyone,

Is it possible in Amazon QuickSight to restrict access to a specific sheet (tab) within a dashboard for certain users, while allowing them to access the rest of the dashboard?

For example:

  • Dashboard with 5 sheets.

  • All users can access Sheets 1–4.

  • Only a specific group can access Sheet 5.

Hi @01267ts,

As per my understanding, Quick Sight doesn’t support sheet-level permissions natively. Permissions are applied at the dashboard level, so I believe it’s all or nothing.

The most common workaround is to split your dashboard into two. Put Sheets 1–4 in one dashboard shared with everyone, and Sheet 5 in a separate dashboard shared only with the restricted group. You can link between them using navigation actions so it still feels like one experience for users who have access to both.

Another approach is to use Row-Level Security (RLS). You can’t hide the sheet tab itself, but you can make the visuals on Sheet 5 return no data for unauthorized users by filtering through RLS rules tied to the viewer’s identity. The sheet would still be visible/clickable, but it would appear empty, in case you want to avoid maintaining two separate dashboards.

Adding on - You can publish both dashboards from the same analysis. You get to choose which all sheets to include at publish time. You can also go with a 5 sheet dashboard and 4 sheet dashboard combo without building navigation actions.
