Selecting the visual

I have a dataset and want to create a visual with origin on x axis, count 1,count2,count3 as 3 bars grouped by serial number field, which visual is suitable

Hello Tanu,

For creating a visual with origin on x-axis and multiple count measures grouped by serial number, a clustered bar chart would be the most suitable option in Amazon QuickSight. You can use either a horizontal or vertical clustered bar chart depending on your preference.

To create this visualization:

  1. Add a new visual and select either the horizontal or vertical bar chart icon

  2. Drag your origin field to the X-axis field well

  3. Drag your count1, count2, and count3 measures to the Value field well

  4. Drag your serial number field to the Group/Color field well

This will create a clustered bar chart that shows your three count measures for each origin value, grouped by serial number.

The clustered bar chart displays values for a single measure for a dimension, grouped by another dimension, which perfectly matches your requirements.

Bar charts in QuickSight can show up to 10,000 data points on the axis for visuals that don’t use group or color, and up to 50 data points on the axis and 50 data points for group or color when those features are used. see reference here

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Deep

HI @Deep , I have tried using Vertical bar chart for the purpose but As sson as three values are selected we cant add any measure to Group/Color instead we get the option add small multiples which I hate.

Hi @Tanu_13,

It’s been awhile since we last heard from you, did you have any additional questions regarding your case or were you able to implement a work around in the interim?

Have you tested out a vertical bar chart to see if that assists with what you’re trying to accomplish?

If you continue encountering issues where you’re already utilizing too many fields within a visual, you may need to explore highchart options as that allows you more flexibility on the number of fields you use and how you visualize them.

Let us know if you have any additional questions, if we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.

Thank you!
