I have a daily/weekly report i would like to setup a schedule to send each day/week, however i can only add recipients who are inside our quicksight team. How can i setup this schedule so that i can send it out to external clients / people within the company who do not have access to quicksight?
Hi @HarveyB-B ,
Is the Email recipients inputbox not accepting any email id that you mention as part of your organization?
I had tried this with email ID from the organization and it worked for me. I have not tried with email id outside organization. Please share what error do you get when you mention full email address in the red highlighted box.
Thanks,
Prantika
Hi @HarveyB-B,
Unfortunately, you are only able to schedule/send Emails to users with access as Quick Sight requires login credentials to utilize.
@duncan
I’m trying to confirm whether the restriction still applies that only registered Quick Sight users can be added as email recipients when scheduling dashboards. Specifically, I’m using Enterprise Edition, and I noticed that the attachment option (PDF/PNG) doesn’t actually require the recipient to log into Quick Sight — so I’m wondering why I can’t just add any email address directly.
From what I understand:
- The Enterprise Edition does support emailing reports to unregistered (external) users.
- To enable this, the Quick Sight admin must go to Manage Quick Sight → Account settings → Email reports and turn on the setting:
“Allow sending email reports to unregistered users” - Once enabled, Authors/Admins can add external email addresses to subscriptions when attaching PDF or PNG snapshots.
- These recipients will get the report as a static attachment and do not need to be Quick Sight users or log in.
- There is no charge for these email recipients unless they are provisioned as Readers or click on links that require login.
So it seems like this is not a limitation in Enterprise Edition, but rather a setting that needs to be explicitly enabled by the admin.
Has anyone else successfully used this to distribute reports to external clients or partners without provisioning them in Quick Sight?
Were you able to find this setting? When I go to account settings under manage Quick Sight I don’t see the option to ‘Email reports’ All I have is notification email address and account termination. @Praveen_Thota @duncan
Has anyone been able to find this setting…much like @pbishop I have not been able to find it…nor have I been able to email reports to unregistered users! BD
@bdoan I opened a ticket with AWS. They said this isn’t doable and this option isn’t available. I thought were going to take down this post as well. You can’t send reports to people who aren’t Quick Sight users.
Thanks! I guess I can PDF it, send to me THEN distribute….

@bdoan You could set up a rule in Outlook to auto forward a specific email to a certain person or group if your company allows that type of thing. Just a thought. No intervention from you except for setting up the mail rule.
