Sorting by VALUE and by GROUP/COLOR in a Vertical Bar Chart

Hi Friends,
I would like to sort the cost$ as well as the Group which is a week/date range calculated field in Vertical Bar Chart.

(Please refer screenshot attached)
I have already sorted the line_item_unblended_cost in the value section such that the bar charts are shown with highest cost first.

however now I would like to further sort value of cal_week which is a week range in ascending order… i.e. the latest week bar should appear to right.

i.e. the current week 2024-06-23 - 2024-06-29 should appear as the second bar for each product code.

would that be possible?

Thank you
Amit

Hi @Amit_Raj ,

When you set the sort order to Ascending for the cal_Week field under group/colour field well, what do you see?

Also please note, since the cal_week is string, it will sort considering string values instead of date values.

Thanks,
Prantika

Hi @prantika_sinha
Thank you for replying.
I am simply not able to choose Ascending order, by default it is set to Descending.

is this because I have sorted the cost i.e. line_item_unblended_cost as Descending?
can we have two sortings inside the same graph?

cost sorted- working…
but week sorting- not allowing.

Thank you

In Amazon QuickSight, you can sort multiple columns, but there are some considerations to keep in mind. Here’s how you can sort multiple columns effectively:

Steps to Sort Multiple Columns

  1. Primary and Secondary Sorting:
  • In Amazon QuickSight, you can set a primary sort on one field and a secondary sort on another field. This is useful when you want to sort by one column first and then by another column within that sorted order.
  1. Using Field Wells:
  • When you drag fields into the Field Wells, you can specify the sorting order for each field. The order in which you apply sorting will determine the hierarchy of the sorting.
