Tooltips text to Display multiple names

Hi Team,

My requirements is to show the trend line ex: using x axis = Date and values = price and profit, here I want to show display on hover ‘category’
when there is 10 product sales then display tooltip all 10 name of the category on hover or visuals level anyone is fine

when I have added name into the tooltip using ‘Displayed value’ Unique value,
then I am getting only one category name if there are multiple category name I am getting *

This is my High level requirements even we are the partner of the AWS business to show case the capabilities of the Quicksight.

Please let me know how to achieve this.

Thanks
Syed

Hello @Alam_Syed

What are you wanting the tool tip to achieve? Do you want it to show a table of all values that make up the trend line?

Hi @duncan, Yeah I have added tooltip dimension Unique value but I am getting only single name if there is multiple value then I am getting *
How to show multiple names on the hover.

Hi @Alam_Syed ,
The tooltip behavior you described - ie - it showing value when single category existing and * when multiple exists - is how it is designed to work.

If you want to be able to show multiple products, you can 1) remove one measure and add Product field to color field well; Create a similar chart for the other measure. 2) Add product to small multiples so that you get a smaller chart per product. 3) Create a table visual on the side and use filter action on the line chart to filter the table and show relevant products for each selected point on the line.

Marking my response as solution for now. Please let us know if you have further questions.

Hi @ArunSanthosh, thanks for the reply, anyways I am now using the bar graph as to show a count, lets say in each bar graph elements multiple counts right so here on hover I am not able to see the name of the count when there is a multiple count then getting * if single count then getting name.

Its a major issues with quicksight please mark as this future version.

Hi Alam @Alam_Syed

Most welcome.
As far as I know, other BI products support inclusion of non-visual dimension in tooltips in the same way as QuickSight does. ie - Allow unique value to be shown if there is only one and * when there are multiple. The feature is working as designed. Just reiterating that point since you mentioned that this is a major issue with QuickSight. I do agree that in some use cases, there is a need to display the list of categories and I included workarounds that can come in handy for such situations.
