Want to apply Rank calculated field on dataset level?

I want to apply rank calculated field as filter on Dataset level. But Quicksight tells me this can only be applied on analysis level. Is it possible to apply ranking filter on dataset level?

Hi @atifzaz and welcome to the QuickSight community!
Currently, there is no work around to apply ranking filters on the dataset level. This is because ranks are based on the context of each visualization. As different visuals may use different aggregations or partitions, a rank filter being applied at the dataset level will have trouble adapting to these changes.

If you can use SQL to calculate the rank, that would be an alternative.

Hi @Brett
Thanks for your response. I am having a data set where I see records coming in that are old and i wanted to filter the latest record with ranking at dataset level.
As I am not able to visualize them on simple bar or KPI visuals. Only am able to show the right numbers on table or pivot using ranking.

any work around?

Per David’s suggestion, you could try using SQL, that would be your only alternate work around option.
