Want to know if it is the expected behavior to not being able to download to excel/csv if there are no transaction in a report?

Hi, just have a small enquiry on QuickSight.

Want to know if it is the expected behavior to not being able to download to excel/csv if there are no transaction in a report? Because i tried to generate and download a excel/csv from a report in QuickSight, the options to export to CSV and Excel are greyed out.

Just want to check if this is the expected behavior. Thank you!

Hello Yoyo,

Welcome to the QS community !.

Are you the owner of the report dashboard ?
when you say no transaction , what do you mean by that ? blank dashboard ?

you should be able to export it, if you own it at least to pdf if its not tabular.

Thanks for letting us know.
Cheers,
Deep

Hi Deep,

No, I am not the owner.

There are some transactions in certain dates, so if I select a date range that has transactions (not a blank dashboard), the options to export to CSV and Excel is not greyed out and i am able to downlodad.

If I select a date range that has no transactions (blank dashboard), the options to export to CSVand Excel is greyed out, cannot press it. Please refer to the image, thank you!

Hi Yoyo,

Can you please check what option is selected while you publish dashboard for data download. There is “Enable download options” checkbox. It controls dat download feature for readers.

Hi AnwarAli,

This is it, thank you! Likely the owner did not set the 'Enable export for hidden…".

Hi Yoyo,

Further, if there is no data for visual after applying filter controls. It can also lead to no option for exporting data “greyed out”. I believe it is happen in your scenario as with right date range selected for dashboard you are able to export data. Please set right filter control values to export data.

“Enable export of hidden fields” option add hidden columns in export from tables visual along with visible columns.
