BUG FOUND - Stacked Combo Chart Tooltips

Tooltips for stacked combo charts are bugged. The labels in the case of two fields used for bars in the chart always have the opposite label used. In the example below, the tooltip colour and values associated with at colour are correct, but the wrong label is assigned. In the second image you can see this clearly where the field ‘Excess Leakage - WB’ is used, I assigned a red/orange colour to it. You can see the correct field is associated with the correct tooltip label in the ‘Edit toolip field’ window. Upon hovering over a date in the chart, the tooltip is showing the incorrect label for the field, its showing the label of the other field present. Both tooltip field labels are assigned correctly. I have tried reversing the order of the fields in the field well and reversing the order of the tooltip fields, neither works. In the third image there is another example where multiple fields have the wrong tooltip label assigned, and also some colours present in the actual chart aren’t shown in the tooltip.

This issue has been brought back to me from end users of two separate dashboards in production. Neither had this issue until recently. Neither has had any changes published in the past couple months. Both did not have this issue last time they were published. I suspect a recent release has caused this. I have replicated this in a separate analysis using a different dataset and can recreate the problems. This issue is really very inconvenient for end users, and as far as I can see without a fix I don’t have good options that align with the design choices made previously (i.e to just show the legend and not the tooltip - which has problems in itself because you cant customise legend labels…)

What if you try resetting each color to the default:

And then setup the value colors at the field level:

If this does not help the issue then it is definitely possible there is a bug with the visuals or your account; I would suggest creating a support ticket so that you can get more direct account support from AWS.

Hi Brett, your suggestion doesn’t fix the issue unfortunately - I’m using different measures, not any dimensions, the default colour reset doesn’t work either so ill open a support case about it, thanks for the quick reply
