Cannot access data for this visual but data is shown in the dashboard

My dashboard and the corresponding analysis show both “Cannot access data for this visual”. However in the webpage where I use this dashboard, the data is shown correctly for this dashboard

When I click on a component of the analysis, I don’t see any columns and when I try to select a dataset for the component nothing changes ( the dataset isn’t selected).

Hi @maxime.boillot.karbo,

Just to make sure I fully understand your question, you are saying that the dashboard displays correctly when embedded to your webpage, or do you just mean that the visual will only display on the dashboard?

Thank you!

Hi @WLS-Luis , thanks for your help on this topic. The dasboard displays well when embedded in my webpage.

Hi @maxime.boillot.karbo,

That is definitely interesting behavior if it displays when embedded on a webpage, but not in dashboard/analyses views. I would definitely recommend creating an AWS Support ticket, as AWS Support may be able to guide you further into why this behavior could be occurring. If you do create a support ticket, please feel free to share any workaround/potential solution you get back in case others run into similar issues.

Thank you!

Hi @maxime.boillot.karbo,
Following up here with an additional note; if your embedded dashboard is showing data, however your analysis and dashboard are showing ‘cannot access data’; it’s most likely due to the fact that the embedded version has not been saved over, therefore it’s still operating off an old version.
When embedding, you select a specific dashboard version to publish the embedding from. While this dashboard will receive updated data (based on your refresh schedule), it will not save any changes made to the analysis unless you re-publish over that embedded dashboard copy.
So most likely, a change was made to the analysis AFTER the dashboard had been embedded. Then after those changes were made, a new dashboard version was created to match the analysis, however the embedded version stayed unaffected.
So for additional clarity:
I am working on Analysis 1.0. I publish this analysis as Dashboard 1.0.
Then I embed dashboard version ‘Dashboard 1.0’.
I go back to Analysis 1.0 and make changes, publish a new version of dashboard (Dashboard 2.0).
Embedded version is still fed from Dashboard 1.0 as I have not updated my embedding link.
Therefore creating different outcomes between Dashboard 2.0 and embedded Dashboard 1.0

In terms of the ‘Cannot access data for this visual’; you’ll receive this message in a number of cases, most likely due to a combination that has no value(s) or you’ve filtered down to create a combination that does not exist.
I would suggest reviewing the filters applied to the visuals where you’re receiving that error message as it is normally in relation to something of the sort.

Let me know if you have any additional questions or if you were able to diagnose this issue in the interim and are no longer facing this issue. If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll mark the solution.

Thank you!
