Changes to published existing dashboards not shown until reset to original

Hi everyone,

I am running into a frustrating issue with a published QuickSight dashboard.

I make changes to an analysis, such as changing a table, updating a filter, or editing a visual title. I then publish the dashboard and replace the existing dashboard.

However, some colleagues do not see the latest published version when they open the dashboard from their usual shortcut link. It looks like they are seeing a persisted or cached version of the dashboard. The only way they see the latest changes is if they manually click Reset to original dashboard.

This is a big operational issue because colleagues are used to accessing the same dashboard link. Publishing as a new dashboard would break existing shortcuts, but asking every user to manually reset their dashboard view also feels wrong.

Is there a way for an author or admin to force all readers to see the latest published dashboard state after replacing an existing dashboard?

Ideally, I would like to keep the same dashboard ID and URL, but invalidate any reader specific saved state, bookmarks, filters, or persisted view settings when a new version is published.

Has anyone found a reliable workaround for this in standard QuickSight dashboard sharing, not embedded dashboards?

Thanks

Hi @jonnyp,

Nice seeing you back in the community! This is a current limitation in Quick where users do not get brought to the newest dashboard version due to session states. Here is a Feature Request post specifying the same behavior.

In terms of a workaround, I would indeed recommend informing users to click “Reset to original dashboard.” However, I will also make sure to mark this post as a Feature Request and archive it so that the AWS Team may address this in the future.

Thank you!
