Bug causing incorrect data to show to users

When I republish a dashboard, data shows incorrectly to dashboard users unless users click Reset to original dashboard. The dataset has column-level security, but no row-level security. I’m not able to pinpoint what exactly is happening as only a subset of data (row-wise) is displayed to users until they reset. I want to reset all users to original dashboard when republishing to avoid the discrepancy. It is leading to incorrect reporting and impacting business operations.

Hi @fohasan

Welcome to the QuickSight community!

This is a known behavior due to persisted user-specific session states (e.g., applied filters, parameter values, control selections). When you republish a dashboard, does not reset user-customized views by default.

Resetting manually resolves this, proving it’s session-state related.

I have tagged this as a feature request. Clear all user customizations automatically upon dashboard republish.

Please refer the below community post this might be helpful for you.

Thanks for the explanation! I should clarify that even with equivalent filters/controls, different users are seeing different metrics despite no RLS or parameter-dictated filters. If users manually change all filters back to default state, the data is still wrong. When they click the reset button, it fixes it, but visually, no filters have changed. This is expected?

I’d characterize it as a bug, not a feature request. How are users supposed to know that data showing may be wrong until they reset the dashboard?

Hi @fohasan

It’s possible that the issue you’re experiencing is related to caching or session state. Sometimes, if a previous version of the dashboard was viewed, the session cache may not update cleanly, leading to stale or partial data being displayed.

Please try to clear your browser cache and cookies or, open the dashboard in a private/incognito window.
