Hi everyone,
I’m trying to understand the pricing model for Amazon QuickSight Reader users under the Enterprise Edition.
According to the pricing documentation, Reader users are charged at a base rate of $3 per user per month. However, I’ve invited a few users with Reader privileges into my QuickSight account (Asia Pacific - Mumbai region), but I haven’t been charged $3 per user as expected.
Here are some details:
I have invited a few Reader users recently.
Some minor charges (like $0.71 and $0.67) have appeared, but not the flat $3 per user.
I want to confirm if this is due to the free trial, prorated billing, per-session pricing, or any legacy pricing.
Can someone please clarify:
What exactly is the base cost structure for Reader users?
Under what conditions does the $3/month apply?
Why might I be seeing lower, partial charges instead?
Thanks so much for the clarification and the link to your earlier post — that helped!
Just to confirm: I’ve added a few QuickSight users with Reader privileges (for embedding purposes only), and I’m using the GenerateEmbedUrlForRegisteredUser API to allow them to view dashboards from my application.
I wanted to ask — in this setup, am I being charged:
Only per session (capacity pricing), based on the number of embed sessions consumed?
2.or*
A flat $3/month per user (user-based pricing) just for creating those Reader users — on top of the session-based cost?
Appreciate any insights to help clarify how billing works in this mixed setup.
