Count vs $ Amount in Pivot Table

We have created a pivot table that includes a control with 2 options to select from: Count (number) and Amount ($). We are trying to add the ‘$’ symbol in the results when Amount is selected without changing the formatting of the Count.

We have not been able to find a solution for this in Quicksight

Hi @krushmere,

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting your question.

I believe you must be using a parameter with a control to dynamically select the displayed field within a calculated field. At this time it isn’t possible to also dynamically change the field formatting within the pivot table as you describe.

However you could consider using free-form mode and using 2 pivot tables layered on top of each other and then using conditional rules to switch between the displayed pivot table. One with Amount and the other with the Count.

Hope this helps?

Many Thanks,
Andrew

Thank you very much for your quick response!

Would we be able to keep the dynamic control functionality if we layered the pivot tables as you described?

Hi @krushmere,

Yes, the control will allow the dashboard user to select between the available visuals, here’s an example on democentral showing this feature in action.

In your case, the layered visuals would be 2 different pivot tables that present either the Count or Amount fields.

Many Thanks,
Andrew
