Hello
I have a visualization for which I use Vertical Stacked bar chart. Currently when I add data labels they come inside the bar, but I want to position them outside the bar. Is there any way to do it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @naveedsayed
what do you mean with “outside the bar”?

Hi @ErikG
Yes I want the data labels to be positioned outside the bar
Outside = left or right?
But right now its not possible anyway.
No not left or right but rather top of each bar
So something like
Thank you for your quick response.
Is there any way to request this to be added in quicksight ?
mh ok.
But this is quite misleading if the values are displayed in the part above.
I have seen those kind of labeling in reports and looked better in few cases. So wanted to try in my report and found no option of positioning the labels.
Hi @naveedsayed , @ErikG ,
We have option to customize the label positioning for vertical bar charts. (Read on for workaround on Vertical stacked bar chart)
I agree with Erik’s view that it can be confusing to show the label above the bar for Vertical stacked bar charts. It wouldn’t be too bad if you are just showing the total though and don’t have labels for each bar segment.
You can get this effect by layering a stacked bar chart (with background turned off) on top of vertical bar chart. The chart color of the vertical bar chart can be set to match the background color to hide those bars and make aligning the charts easier. See sample below. Also, Got to make sure that their axis ranges, categories and their sort order are aligned. Of course, you can turn on labels on the vertical stacked bar as well to show values of each bar segment; But, back to Eric’s point, that can be confusing for end users.
