No Option for Data Label Position on Horizontal Bar Charts?

I want data labels to be to the right of a the bars on a horizontal bar chart. I should be able to do that according to the documentation, but that option isn’t in the properties menu. Is this a bug, a setting, or was the option disabled?

In the horizontal chart:

In vertical bar chart:

The properties menu of a vertical bar chart has an option for Data labels position.

From the docs (as of Jan 13, 2026):

You can customize the following options:

  • Position, which determines where the label appears in relation to the data point (for bar, combo, and line charts):
    • For vertical bar charts, you can customize to set position:
      • Above bars
      • Inside of bars
      • Bottom of bars
      • Top of bars
    • For horizontal bar charts, you can customize to set position:
      • Right of bars
      • Inside of bars

Hope everything is well with you! That is definitely interesting behavior you are encountering, as I checked my options to make sure and it is displaying for me. I would definitely reach out to a respective IT admin (if necessary) to make sure your account has the right permissions. If that is not possible, I would definitely reach out to AWS Support by creating a support ticket, as they should be able to assist you further in this matter (whether it is indeed a bug or permissions-related).

It have resolved on it’s own the next day. I used that option last year with no changes to my permissions, it just wasn’t there that day. Anyway this is resolved!
