Dataset Scheduled Refresh Failures and Re-run issues

Hi Experts,

We have over 100 datasets in our environment which are refreshed at different intervals.

There are occasions when these scheduled refreshes fail, predominantly due to resource constraints on the database. Our recovery step involves clicking the Refresh Now button and choose the the same refresh type (Incremental), Date field and window size to trigger a manual refresh. The refresh is triggered and completes.

From my observations over the last 6-8 months 90% of the time this works. But for the other 10% this method does not work, i.e. the refresh job is not triggered no matter how many times I try.

What I end up doing is to create a new schedule to trigger the refresh in the next x minutes; with the same details as of the existing schedule that failed. This temporary scheduled refresh gets triggered.

Since the re-run is so basic I am not sure why it would not trigger sometimes.

Any ideas?

Hi @Giridhar.Prabhu - The best way to track this issue why the rerun of refresh is not work for 10% to submit a ticket to AWS so that they can collect the rerun logs and analyze it.

Hi @Giridhar.Prabhu,
That is interesting behavior. I haven’t encountered anything similar but agree with Sanjeeb, that a support ticket may be the most efficient option.

It is a recurring issue. So I will take up with AWS.
