Datasets failed to refresh due to connectivity issues

Hi there,

I have been connecting datasets to mysql via RDS and some via Aurora for many months, years in some cases. However my automatic refreshes stopped out of the blue last night. Below is the error I receive.

The IT department at my company say they have not made any changes to our database or connections so I am very confused to why this has happened. Has amazon changed anything to do with Quicksights data source connection recently?

“Communications link failure The last packet sent successfully to the server was 0 milliseconds ago. The driver has not received any packets from the server.”

Hi @JSharman, does it mean both of the two data sources, RDS MySQL and Aurora, started failing to refresh and they are still failing of now?

If this is the case, what would be the shared component between QuickSight and the two databases in your environment?

The error message suggests that QuickSight tried connecting to your database using the database driver but was unable to get any response, indicating some network layer issue. I would suggest you have your IT team to verify all the related settings such as QuickSight VPC ENI, security group for QuickSight ENI, security group for database, and any other components in between.

If that does not help, please have the IT team to log a support case with AWS Technical Support so the support engineers can assist troubleshooting.

Hi Duncan,

Unfortunately it didn’t resolve my issue, we have raised this further with out personal business support. They have also confirmed out security groups are in order so they are investigating further. Although we’ve experience little luck so far.
