Ex-team member

We had a teammate who was the only owner of a dashboard and its corresponding datasets in the Standard edition account. After the teammate left, he lost complete access to the Standard edition account. That resulted in the datasets not getting refreshed, and loss of ‘Owner’ access to the dashboard. Is there any way we can restore the access of the ex-teammate to his ex-manager or myself?

Hello @mnkarale, welcome to the QuickSight community!

I am unsure why the dataset would no longer refresh if that user’s account was deleted. The only thing I can think of is if their account was the only one with a connection to the datasource the data is being queried from.

On the bright side, you or their manager, should be able to gain access to all of the resources that were linked with that user’s account. If you go into the manage QuickSight tab on the console and select Manage Resources, you should be able to find all of the datasets, analyses, and dashboards the user owned and give yourself ownership.

I’ll link some documentation with more information. Let me know if this helps!

Hi @DylanM , thank you for responding to my question. I remember this solution could be applied to Enterprise edition. Apologies I forgot to mention that the account is Standard edition account. Unfortunately for that I do not see an option → Manage Quicksight

Hello @mnkarale, would you be able to re-establish the connection to the datasource and re-create the dataset? Then you could use the Manage datasets button in the analysis to replace the old dataset with the new one you created:

That would ensure you have ownership of the dataset and should make it easier to debug any errors regarding the refresh.

Hello @mnkarale, since we have not heard back from you with any remaining questions, I will mark my previous response as the solution. I believe that will be the best way to work-around this issue since you do not have the enterprise edition of QuickSight.

Please let me know if you still need assistance with this issue and I can help guide you further. Thank you!
